example one day workshop for 20-30 people
9AM we show some STRAIGHT 8 films from the archive to set the tone and break the ice. a prompt will be given for story inspiration, in keeping with your theme or objective
in groups they then script, plan and shoot their film with our assistance, according to straight 8 rules…
they make their film by taking each shot once only, in story order, on one cartridge of super 8 film
every time they pull the camera’s trigger that’s the next shot in their film. there’s no going back for more takes and there’s no editing later
their cartridge of film lasts only 3 minutes and 20 seconds
once they get to the end it’s done. and two more things happen…
they learn how to process their own film in special developing tanks on site
and they work with talented musicians on their soundtrack
7PM with optional red carpet attire, a glass of bubbly in hand, the films spooled on the projector, everyone gets to see their work for the first time as it lights up the silver screen, together with their live soundtrack
