because we’re people people
we safely guide people out of their comfort zones
we liberate them with ‘permission to fail’
because our workshops are all about embracing imperfection
and celebrating bold intention
our workshops literally begin and end with storytelling
the very thing that sets we humans aside from all other beings

testimonials
we’ve worked with D&AD, at SXSW, Port Eliot Literary Festival, Jameson First Shot Weekender in Los Angeles and more
“I had such a great time last week and this was just what I needed. I do a lot of commercial work and it was really freeing to be able to break the rules and try something new. I loved the analog process and it’s something I’ve been exploring recently as digital has consumed everything we do now and it’s nice to remember that we used to capture light in a different way.”

“Our straight 8 experience was the highlight of the festival… and was rounded off by our film made for your workshop winning the fiction category of the competition”
- Port Eliot Literary Festival workshop attendee

the level playing field that the straight 8 competition represents for the global filmmaking community is something that sets it aside from almost everything else in film, where advantages such as budget and fame loom large
this ethos translates into the workshop which is an ‘equaliser’ where everybody's contribution is valued and as important as the next person’s regardless of experience or job title. this increases flow of ideas and communication between all team members of every rank, as they creatively problem-solve at speed, as a group.
and once shooting, they only look forwards as there’s no going back
